MISSION STATEMENT

The Monte Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disabled stroke victims by providing easier access in and out of the home and to and from the home to various activities. Our goal is to provide necessary relief to spouses, families, and caregivers of the disabled, as well as the disabled themselves.

The foundation specifically provides wheelchair accessible options in transportation and home entrances for disabled stroke victims living within the United States, and for the physical and emotional support for their caregivers.
ROOTS OF THE FOUNDATION

The Monte Foundation was founded in honor of George Monte Rice. In December 2006 Mr. Rice suffered a massive stroke that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. The attending physicians were amazed that he even survived such a life-threatening stroke, and have asked him to participate in research to help better understand the nature of strokes and help other stroke patients. Mr. Rice willingly submitted to the testing in order to help others, like himself, find some hope in recovery.
